Solemnly Swear

Recently the U. S. Supreme Court decided that outlawing false claims of military service for gain violated the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, saying that it violated protected speech. People have noted this, but they haven’t noted the implications.

Among other things it means that the oath to speak the truth before you give testimony is now invalid, because it violates your right to express yourself. The USSC decision invalidates perjury laws, so the oath is no longer enforceble.

This will make life a lot easier for many attorneys, making convictions a practical guarantee for numerous DAs.

Lie, prevaricate, and misrepresent, it’s your right as an American!
